Common Questions

What's the difference between a flyscreen and a security screen?

A flyscreen keeps insects out and nothing else — the mesh is light and the frame is not designed to resist force. A security screen uses woven stainless steel mesh in a heavy frame, fixed so it can't be levered out, and is built to resist someone trying to get through it.

Will a security screen block my view?

Less than most people expect. Stainless steel security mesh is fine enough that from inside, looking out, you mostly see through it. It does darken the view slightly, which some people actually prefer on a west-facing opening.

Can you make screens for windows you didn't install?

Usually yes. We measure the existing openings and fabricate screens to fit. It's worth us taking a look first, since older frames vary a lot.

Do you have pet-resistant screens?

Yes. Pet mesh is a heavier gauge designed to take the pushing and scratching that destroys standard flyscreen. It's a common request for sliding doors with a dog in the house.

How long will it take?

Production is typically completed within three to four weeks of your order being confirmed. Installation is usually finished in a single day, scheduled around your availability.

Can I arrange my own installation?

Yes. We offer supply only as well as supply and installation, so you can use your own trades if you prefer. Builders regularly order supply only from us.
