Aluminium Windows

Fixed & Feature Windows Melbourne

Fixed windows don't open, which means less framing, more glass and a better seal than any operable window. They're most often combined with opening sashes so a room gets both the view and the ventilation.

Fixed glazing suits you if…

  • You want the largest possible area of uninterrupted glass
  • The room already has ventilation from other windows or doors
  • You're glazing a highlight, stairwell or feature opening
  • You want the best possible weather seal and thermal performance
  • The window is out of reach and wouldn't be opened anyway

Usually paired with…

  • Awning sashes above or below for ventilation
  • Sliding windows alongside within the same frame
  • Sliding or stacker doors as a full glazed wall
  • Double glazing, since large glass areas drive heat gain and loss

Fixed lights can be combined into the same frame as opening sashes.

Common Questions

Can a fixed window be combined with an opening one?
Yes, and it's the most common way we use them. A fixed light with an awning sash above or a slider beside it gives you the glass area you want and the ventilation the room needs, all in one frame.
Is there a size limit on fixed glazing?
There is, and it depends on glass thickness, weight and the wind loading for your site. We'll confirm what's achievable for your opening when we quote it.
Should large fixed windows be double glazed?
It's worth considering. Large areas of glass are where a home gains and loses the most heat, so double glazing has more effect on a big fixed window than almost anywhere else in the house.
How long will it take?
Production is typically completed within three to four weeks of your order being confirmed. Installation is usually finished in a single day, scheduled around your availability.
Can I arrange my own installation?
Yes. We offer supply only as well as supply and installation, so you can use your own trades if you prefer. Builders regularly order supply only from us.
What colours are available?
Everything is finished in powder coat, with a wide standard colour range plus custom colours on request. Charcoal, black and monument are the most common choices we install.
